Next we'll explain the problem and the cost to repair the problem .
Discuss options. Depending on factors such as:
age of the system
cost to repair other problems, that have been noted.
repair cost versus replacement cost
warranty
what your expectations are
Once your questions are answered and any options explained, we do only the repair or replacement you authorize. The cost is fixed for those repairs you authorize.

What if my systems needs additional repairs within just a few weeks or months? If your unit needs additional repair within 90 Days from the date on your invoice, we will waive the Diagnostic charge, if you authorize us to make the needed repair(s). **

Why don't you offer free service calls?
Just a few words about the free or ridiculously low priced service call come on.
Any company must recover operating cost or overhead, otherwise they would not make a profit and would go out of business. The cost to dispatch a truck and technician is not insignificant. Remember the company must recover the operating cost and make a profit or they won't stay in business. How do they do that if their not charging (or under charging) for the service call?
I'll only mention two of the most common:
